This page is built for your market. It shows how many pharma companies there are in the US, how big they are, and who signs off at each. It's yours to keep. Your own version, built around your company, comes after.
How big they are
| Group | Organizations in the US | Under 20 staff | 20 to 99 | 100 to 499 | 500 or more |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pharma companies | about 1,200 | about 660 | about 220 | about 170 | about 130 |
Count of US employer firms in pharmaceutical preparation manufacturing from the US Census Bureau's Statistics of US Businesses for 2022, rounded to two figures on purpose.
Who signs off, purchase by purchase
Titles vary from company to company, and who signs depends on what you sell.
| The purchase | Who usually signs | Who else has a say |
|---|---|---|
| Distribution, logistics and supply chain | Director of Distribution or Supply Chain | Quality assurance and regulatory leads |
| Market access for a drug | Chief Commercial Officer | Head of market access |
| Licensing and business development | Chief Business Officer | Head of business development and licensing |
| Executive search and senior hires | CEO and the board, often with an investor director | Chief Human Resources Officer or Head of Talent Acquisition |
From buyer maps we have built for companies that sell to this market.
How the decision usually runs
A purchase that touches quality, data or a regulated process can route through quality and regulatory review, a security review and procurement, and each of those can slow it or stop it.
A quality or regulatory director, or a compliance officer, may not be the one who signs, but can stop a deal on risk grounds, so the person who brings you in has to satisfy them. Systems that run validated processes need testing and change control on every upgrade.
For supply chain work, a smaller company's founder or operations head often decides alone. In a larger one the decision sits with supply chain and is checked by quality or finance.
What we do
- We run outreach by email and on LinkedIn to the buyers you should be talking to. On LinkedIn, it goes out from your own people's profiles.
- When someone says yes, the conversation goes straight to your reps.
- We can also build the system around them, with an AI assistant your reps can ask about any account, a priority list in each rep's inbox every morning and an app on their phone, all wired into your CRM. When we hand it over, your team owns it.
The next step
The next step is a 25-minute call with one of our team. We'll ask how new business reaches you today, what a deal is worth to you, and who would need to say yes. Then we'll show you where we'd start. If it's not a fit, we'll tell you. If it is, we'll book the next step before we hang up.
